Can I send but shut off receiving e mails?

I want to send but not receive e mails on my 7610. At present it keeps all e mail messages in the outbox until I go to my e mail provider. It then proceeds to download the loads of junkmail I get everyday before sending the email I wrote.
Anyone know how I can turn off the "receive mails" function and use it only to send e mails?
Thanks

Use bogus/incorrect username/password and/or POP3/IMAP4 server, but the correct (your operator's, usually) outgoing SMTP server in the mailbox settings.
