UIQ announce new Developer Program
UIQ have announced the launch of its new Developer Program to co-incide with the launch of the public SDK for UIQ 3 and the launch of the Sony Ericsson P990. The web portal (to be launched at the Smartphone Show) will allow free registration and enable access to content and services aimed at helping the UIQ developer. UIQ note that 'the web portal will offer all the information and services expected to support a developer community, such as news, development kits and tools downloads, documentation, references, tutorials and guides, knowledge base, Frequently Asked Questions, code samples, technical articles, tips, community events information, and, at a later stage, more advanced services such as development, marketing and business support'. UIQ has announced the availability of the first public software development kit (SDK) for UIQ 3. This announcement conincides with Sony Ericsson's announcement of the P990 (which will be the first UIQ 3 phone to the market). A public download will be available on October 26th, but the first 500 people to sign up for UIQ's new development program, at UIQ booth at the Smartpone Show, will obtain a preview copy.The Smartphone Show: What's on the Floor?

Orange have made further details of thier upcoming Code Camp in Opio available. Developers will have a chance to get up to speed on the latest developments with sessions on Series 60 3rd Edition, UIQ 3 and the new Symbian security model is Symbian OS v9. With Symbian, Nokia, Sony Ericsson and UIQ are gold sponsors there will be plenty on offer for the Symbian developer.
