AAN Review Score

The second entry in Gameloft's Asphalt franchise — an arcade street racer developed by Gameloft Montreal pitting players against police in illegal city races across real-world locations. It expanded on the original's formula with 57 licensed vehicles including motorcycles, refined collision physics designed around eliminating opponents, and cross-media tie-ins with The Pussycat Dolls and a Moby single.

The first Asphalt had launched the franchise in 2004, selling over five million copies and establishing what would become Gameloft's biggest series — by 2026 Asphalt titles had accumulated over 1.7 billion downloads across the franchise. The N-Gage version of Urban GT 2 arrived in November 2005, a full year before the Nintendo DS version and more than a year before the PSP port. Across all platforms the game received mixed-to-poor scores — the PSP version scored 42 on Metacritic — with critics consistently citing weak AI and easy difficulty, and several reviewers dismissing the Pussycat Dolls cameo as a marketing gimmick disconnected from the gameplay itself.
