A compilation of eight classic Atari arcade titles — Asteroids, Battlezone, Black Widow, Millipede, Missile Command, Red Baron, Lunar Lander, and Super Breakout — brought to the N-Gage by Backbone Entertainment (the studio formed from Digital Eclipse's 2003 merger with ImaginEngine). Four bonus Atari 2600 titles including Adventure and Yar's Revenge were unlockable, and N-Gage Arena provided global high-score rankings.
The collection was one of two Atari compilations released on N-Gage in 2005–06, announced jointly with Volume II in May 2005. A notable extra was a video interview with Nolan Bushnell, Atari's co-founder, split across both volumes — the second half appearing in Vol. II. The games represent the first wave of coin-op Atari titles from 1979 to 1981, spanning vector-graphics shooters (Asteroids, Battlezone, Red Baron) through scrolling fixed shooters (Millipede, Black Widow) to the physics-based Lunar Lander. The N-Gage Arena integration meant players could post scores globally, a neat hook for games originally built around arcade leaderboards.
