AAN Review Score ›
An unconventional pinball game developed by London-based studio Ideaworks3D, in which the objective is not to score points but to bounce the ball ever upward through a tower of more than 80 interconnected playfields. Missing the ball drops the player one level rather than ending the game, and an in-game currency allows purchase of power-ups and upgrades.
Mile High Pinball scored 84 on Metacritic, with reviewers praising the concept's freshness while noting its steep frustration curve. The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences nominated it for Cellular Game of the Year at the 9th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards — the same award for which High Seize was also nominated. The game was revamped and re-released on the N-Gage 2.0 platform in May 2008, giving it a longer commercial life than most original N-Gage titles. Ideaworks3D, founded in London in 1998, developed four N-Gage launch titles and eventually rebranded as Marmalade Game Studio in 2011 after a broader restructuring of their cross-platform technology business.
