The direct sequel to RedLynx's critically acclaimed N-Gage exclusive, shifting the semi-turn-based WWII tactical combat from Southern Europe to the Pacific Theatre. Players command a squad of American Rangers under veteran Commander McDougas on an island-hopping campaign responding to Pearl Harbour, across a substantially revised engine with new weapons, vehicles, and Japanese-language soldier dialogue.
Ikusa Islands matched its predecessor's 83/100 on Metacritic, with Pocket Gamer calling it "the premier title on the N-Gage" for 2005. Key additions over the original Pathway to Glory included a new in-game chat system supporting both voice and text, up to six-player multiplayer via hotseat, Bluetooth or N-Gage Arena (up from four in the original), improved soldier voice dialogue that evolved based on experience and actions, and new weapons including a mortar capable of lobbing shells in a high arc over cover. An E3 2005 release candidate build is preserved on the Internet Archive. RedLynx was later acquired by Ubisoft in 2011 and became famous for the Trials series. Ikusa Islands stands as one of the last major first-party N-Gage exclusives before the platform's retail wind-down.
