The direct sequel to X-Men Legends, again developed for N-Gage by Barking Lizards Technologies and released in October 2005. The story forces the X-Men into an uneasy alliance with their traditional enemies, the Brotherhood of Mutants, to defeat the ancient villain Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen — expanding the roster to include playable former antagonists such as Toad and Scarlet Witch.
Released simultaneously across six platforms — PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Windows, PSP, and N-Gage — in late October 2005, with the mobile version hitting on October 28–31. The console versions scored 80–85/100 on Metacritic; no separate aggregate was recorded for the N-Gage port. The sequel added a turn-based player-vs-player mode alongside the returning four-player cooperative campaign, and introduced a New Game Plus mode allowing replay with retained character statistics. Notably, the title was originally announced and demoed under the working title 'Dawn of the Apocalypse' at E3 before the final name was confirmed. The N-Gage version carried the smallest playable roster of any platform — six characters — compared to 18 total across all versions, with PSP receiving four exclusive characters and Windows two additional ones.
