An isometric action-RPG in which players lead a squad of four X-Men through 22 episodes and 50 missions, adapted for the N-Gage by Texas-based Barking Lizards Technologies and released in early 2005. Characters are rendered as 2D sprites derived from the console's 3D models, with full RPG progression — levelling, equipment, and power upgrades — and a story following the X-Men against the mutant threat of Magneto.
The N-Gage port scored 79/100 on Metacritic and 76% on GameRankings, strong numbers for the platform. Reviewers praised the graphics as 'very strong' and highlighted the preserved voice acting from the console versions. The game supported four-player cooperative play via GSM cellular data — the phone's actual mobile network — rather than relying solely on Bluetooth, making it one of the few N-Gage titles to use that connection for multiplayer. Three characters absent from the console roster were cut from the N-Gage version: Emma Frost, Jubilee, and Psylocke. The European release arrived in January 2005, North America in February. Barking Lizards Technologies were a Dallas-based studio who went on to develop the N-Gage sequel.
