Phone Used For Review - Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (game may be different on different phone models)

Gameplay - WordSearch is what it says it is, a word search generator which lets you hunt for particular words in a grid of letters. The gameplay is fairly straightforward, select one letter at a time until you have the whole word, and if it's one of the ones on the list the letters will change colour and you can go and look for another word. The default settings make the puzzles far too easy, but you can set the game to be a lot more difficult from the title screen's options menu (choose the highest difficulty setting and the largest grid size). After you solve each puzzle the game will tell you if your time to solve it was better or worse than average, and there's a statistics page where you can see bar charts of your recent times on the current difficulty setting and grid size.

Graphics & Sound - This is a straightforward, competently-designed word search game with everything clearly laid out, the screen has been used efficiently and there are some nice little touches like the floating letters when you start a new puzzle. WordSearch also offers a choice of different-coloured backgrounds and foregrounds, which you can cycle through by selecting the view button. This game isn't anything special graphically, and there's no sound at all, but then you wouldn't expect that kind of thing from this genre anyway.

Multiplayer & Online - None.

TV Out - Works absolutely fine on a television set, and looks just as good on a large screen as it does a small one. The one problem is if you're playing on a touchscreen phone like the 5800, you won't be able to see where you're touching the screen if you're watching the action on the TV.

Overall - ZingMagic's "Alphabet" and "Starts With" WordSearch are both freeware, and their commercial cousins (which are the same game but with different sets of words) only cost 2 euros each at the time of writing. Clearly this game is intended as an impulse download or purchase, and it's not meant to be a hugely complex bit of software. If you enjoy word searches while on the move (and plenty of people do, just visit the magazine shop at any railway station or airport) then this game is for you. This could also help to keep children quiet on car journeys, and the game's various difficulty levels and grid sizes make it suitable for many age groups.
