Ovi Gaming Review:

Phone Used For Review - Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (games may be different on different phone models)

Gameplay - Basically this is a remake of Breakout/Arkanoid, but with some modern twists to liven things up. The main "Revolution" mode lets you work your way up from lower screens to higher ones, and in many ways this is similar to Nokia's Mile High Pinball. There are also some other modes: "Classic" is normal Breakout/Arkanoid, "Time Attack" is a race to score as much as possible within a time limit, while "Infinite" is basically the same as Revolution but without the continues or boss levels. There are lots of bonuses you can collect while breaking blocks, and even some bonus levels hidden within certain parts of the game. Every so often there's also a boss level featuring a phone-style snake.

Graphics - The graphics are simple and minimalist but very well animated, and the whole game feels quite slick. The screenshots below don't really do the game justice, the gameplay video gives you a much better idea of how the game looks. The Revolution game mode also gives the blocks a more modern and interesting look by varying their size and shape.

Sound - In keeping with the graphics, the music is minimalist electronica but with a slick modern feel.

Multiplayer & Online - None.

Overall - Brick Breaker Revolution is an interesting iteration of a very old genre indeed. It's still pretty much the same gameplay as Breakout or Arkanoid, but it looks and sounds fresher. The main downside is the control system on touch phones, as the bat seems to lag behind where you have your finger or stylus, which can make it frustrating to play. If you have a button-based phone you'll probably have a lot more fun with this game.

Score - 65%
