Chessboard Touch is purely a simulation of a chess board, and does not contain any AI to play against. It is intended for two human players sharing a single phone.

How To Get It:

You can download Chessboard Touch from Ovi Store by selecting your phone's Ovi Store icon, or by going to store.ovi.mobi on your phone's web browser.

Alternatively you can go to store.ovi.com on your computer's browser.

Ovi Gaming Review:

Phone Used For Review - Nokia N97 (game may be different on different phone models)

Gameplay - Well... there isn't really any gameplay built in, but you're expected to play this game against another human on the same phone, so the quality of the gameplay depends entirely on the quality of your opponent. The games are timed with 15 minutes thinking time for each opponent, and illegal moves are automatically rejected so you don't have to worry about someone breaking the rules.

Graphics & Sound - Simple, straightforward graphics. Nothing to write home about, but fairly competently done. There is no sound at all.

Multiplayer & Online - This is multiplayer-only, you need a human opponent to play this game. However, it's played entirely offline using a single handset.

Overall - Rather unusual this, it's a chess game which doesn't have a computer opponent to play against. However, if you do enjoy playing games against others and you don't have a physical chess board available (for example while travelling with friends or family), then this could be quite useful. The timed nature of the game ensures that matches don't drag on, and the automatic rule-checking also makes it suitable for people who can't remember the rules of Chess that well. This does exactly what it says on the tin, and at one euro that's not bad.
