Ovi Gaming Review:

Phone Used For Review - Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (games may be different on different phone models)

Gameplay - Cluedo is heavily based on the classic board game, but presents similar gameplay in a very different manner. Instead of moving round a board, you have a certain number of turns to find enough clues to deduce the murderer, weapon and crime scene. A great deal of logic is required for this deductive process, and playing this game is very much like the famous "Logic Problems" puzzle books with their logic grid system. To help you all the clues are automatically recorded and categorised, so you can refer back to them at any time, which is extremely useful when you're trying to squeeze a deduction out of very little information.

Graphics - Cluedo is entirely 2D but it has a very slick animation style, and the game looks really nice. If you have a phone with a very high resolution screen, such as the Nokia 5800, the game runs at full resolution using the entire screen (hurrah!) but the text at full resolution can be rather small and difficult to read (boo!).

Sound - A mysterious soundtrack complements the slick animation very well.

Multiplayer & Online - None.

TV Out - The 2D artwork looks very nice on a television set. But, as with most TV Out games, if you're playing on a touchscreen phone you may have difficulty selecting menu items on the phone while looking at the television screen.

Overall - The first time you play it Cluedo feels very complicated and cumbersome, but the built-in tutorial takes you through everything step-by-step, and once you've got the hang of it you find it's a very well designed game. The menu system lets you compare clues easily, and the turn-based nature of the game (where a "clock" counts down based on how many actions you do) means you have plenty of time to think about what to do next. The turn limits of each mystery mean you have to pay attention to clues and try to get as much information from each titbit as possible before the game ends, which makes it enjoyable and challenging to play.

Score - 75%
