Despite switching to Flight mode overnight, my battery is still sucked dry!

Q. I switch my P900 to ‘Flight’ mode overnight, in an attempt to try and prolong my battery life. I’m often travelling and away from an easy way of recharging and I’m regularly mystified by the way the P900’s battery gets sucked dry even when I’m not using it.

A. Our guess is that you tend to leave something power-hungry running in the background, such as the built-in CommuniCorder. It’s all UIQ’s fault in that few applications have ‘Exit’ or ‘Close’ options and, while it’s fine to leave most PIM applications idling away, CommuniCorder’s a lot more active, especially because it talks to the hardware (i.e. the camera). Use SMan or a similar tool to close CommuniCorder (or any other processor-hungry application) whenever you’re done with it, and we think your battery will last a lot longer between charges.
