Why do some photo thumbnails come up for callers and not others?

Q. When people call me on my Nokia 9300, their name and photo thumbnail generally comes up properly on the screen, but when my wife or daughter call me (the two people whose faces I really want to see!), I just get the bare number shown. This is driving me mad. Why does this work sometimes and not others?

A. You'll kick yourself, but we'll bet that the numbers in question are on more than one Contact card. For starters, your wife's 'home' number is probably on your 'My contact card'! There's probably a similar duplication for your daughter. In each case, the Telephone application scans your Contacts store, finds more than one entry and, not knowing which details to put up, decides to just show the number instead. The same phenomenon applies on many other smartphones, obviously. If you really want to see your wife's face when she calls from home, make her part of 'My contact card' and delete the extra entry in the body of your Contacts.
