Why would it not be available in the UK, am I missing something?

If so then the second comment would appear to answer the question:
"The N9 availability notification is for online sales through Nokia online stores - it doesn't apply to retail.
Nokia recently closed down several European online stores, and are due to close their UK online store by the end of June.
What point would there be including the UK in the availability notification when there would be no online Nokia store to buy it from by the time the phone launched?"
