3650 ON T-MOBILE UK

A bit later this month.

They say early April - they have the phones and are working on intergrating t-zones onto them - then they will begin to ship.
Last week I was told 'next week' this week I was told 'Early April'

I'm eager to find out weather they will be disabling BT/IR transfer of data like what Vodafone have done on the GX10. So if anyone know pls let us know!

wot u mean disable them? how and why can they do tht its phones main feautre with out tht we cant send nethign from our pc?

What Voda did with the GX10 is to disable data transfer on the IR port so if you take a piccy you can NOT squirt it to your PC, you can only transfer it if you MMS it to your PC's e-mail.
That way Voda make money from the MMS.
The same for ringtones - you can not send them to the GX10 via IR you HAVE to download them over the air and again Voda make money from your surfing.

Also they replaced the normal 'services' WAP menus to open their own portal 'Vodaphone Live' and put it on the right softkey, entering your own bookmarks etc is quite a task for the average non techy phone user and no matter what you do you always seem to end up on the Vodafone portal - another clever trick by Voda to get you surfing with them and downloading content and spending money with them.
The average guy on the street with a GX10 would not realise that there is a whole internet full of WAP sites and content, all they see is 'Vodafone Live'

And it 'sounds' like T-mobile is trying to do a simular thing with the 3650 by modifying the phone to have a 'T-Zones' softkey already installed and configured - I just wonder how far they will go with this 'walled garden' approch and weather thet will also disable the data transfer over IR/BT so the the punter has to use their MMS service if they want to get data off their phone..

i get u knw on the WAP part even if they do put of the t zone which i knw 99% they willcos i knw wot u mean now, can we still get around it, wil it hav like an address bar cos i knw my c35 does lol (siemens)

and about thr b/t and i/r data transfer is there away around it ? how do they do it? hav the done it b4?

I think you'll find ALL the networks will start doing this in the future.
As I say, I'm NOT 100% sure that this is waht T-mobile are doing, I just think they might as thats what Vodafone do.

The alternative is to buy an off the shelf 'unlocked' phone rather than getting it cheaper form the networks..

As long as we can still get to the standard 'services' menu and IR/BT data transfer have not been crippled.

thats wot i thoght about the menu at 1st but i think they will leave it standard and not the one u posted.. thts optional i tihnk....

hopefully they wont 'cripple' the features even if they did how can we find out before we buy cos they aint exactly gona tell us or they might not even knw....?

Got an email off them yesterday saying it was out now - and in stock. I've got a 7650 at the moment - is it really worth the upgrade? Any owners shed light on the benefits?

are u sure its out on t mobile i knw iv seen the site according to them it is... BUT the LINK dont hav it on thier site and nor does T MOBILE them selves.........

also i dont own one myself yet but personally i woldnt upgrade if i already had a 7650 unless i was an exreme user which i might become and need the extra space then yeah.. and also depends if u dont mind spilling outhe cash then go for it definately yEA!!

I trust MobileShop... bought every Nokia since my 6150 off them and that was a few years back now been through 8210, 6210, 8310, 3310, 3330, 5210 and my 7650 (also 7210+6610 since that) all through MS and never had any problems... jsut ordered myself a 3650 on Voda through them today - as for T-Mobile if they say they have them in stock I'd trust them 😊

😮 Why would anyone want to get a 3650 on T mobile if they're pulling that kind of crap. I got mine a week ago on O2 from uk phone shop http://www.ukphoneshop.com/Pay_Monthly.asp?id=398&Network=O2
for free with a �27.50/m contract. The phone came with nothing O2ised on it - not even the wap/gprs was configured - and works with other sim cards (worked with vodaphone for example).

What a great phone for such a small price.

It seems I got it just in time 😃 though because now they want �88 for it on my contract :-? . You have to pay 35 quid a month to get it for free.

Hi, I got my wife a 3650 today - on t-mobile upgrade.
Glad to say they have not pulled any of the tricks like Vodafone have.
IR & Bluetooth is NOT crippled.
They have NOT modified the icons like is shown in the previous picture.

All they have done is Added a PINK colour scheme to match the T-Mobile colours, pre configured the WAP and MMS setings and addedd some T-Zones bookmarks.
Oh - and included a T-Mobile background.

All this can be changed if you want to the regular colours and backgrounds, so not to bad after all 😊

Plus I'd just like to say to the guys on firmware 1.34 - 2.50 is not that much different,
may be slightly faster
video recorder now plays back .3gp files itself rather than RealOne jumping in, which means self recorded videos play 'full screen'.
WAP does not crash on exit
BT Audio with HDW-2 works perfectly.

Not played enough with the phone but from what I can see - it is just the same asbuying it unlocked - only �150.00 cheaper 😊
All the changes T-Mobile have made so far for what I have seen can be put back and modified the same you can with a standard 3650.
All the wap settings can be changed if you like and the wallpaper and ringtones can be put back - Although the T-mobile ones are not that bad anyways 😊

I transfered some images and videos via bluetooth and they transfered ok, I'll test the InfaRed later when I can get the phone away from my wife 😉

If I find anything 'naughty' I'll let you know, but so far so good!!

The lights are blue - and I was not given a choice of colour, they were all silver.

Also I noticed the sound is louder and clearer on the new 3650 compaired to my beta one.
Could be firmware but sounds like they are using a better speaker than whats in my older phone.

Just got my 3650, well cool. I'm with Vodafone and I don't think they've disabled any features. I can freely IR between the phone and my laptop.

I appreciate this thread is running a bit old now and maybe this info is redundant.

Oh well, gotta say something in my first post. 😊
