I'm a very happy sim-free N8 owner.
I'm looking forward to the Belle update.
I'm impatient.
I'm hoping that the Lumia 800 that I've just bought (for delivery in three days' time) will help the wait for Belle pass quickly.

Poop!
Order that Lumia 800 from carphone warehouse for 470 and then spotted phones4u have them at 400.
Have now ordered second one with intention of not taking delivery of the cpw one.
😛 to cpw
Omg!
I don't know what to do!
Help!
lol!!
I've been walking around with my N8 and my Lumia 800 for over a week. Both are on Three UK and have unlimited data.
Lumia 800 is absolutely gorgeous! Windows Phone is a dream UI!
However...I'm thinking about returning the Lumia and sticking with my N8. Why? Symbian.
I didn't think I'd miss true multitasking so much.
Lumia battery is poor.
Camera? I'm used to N8, nuff said.
Skype, Swype (although WP keyboard is excellent), IMO (both google talk apps on WP crash often - gchat and IM+), Google Maps + Latitude, all missing from Windows Phone.
3G signal is better on N8. At home I can't get a signal at all on Lumia unless I go upstairs, I've never even thought about signal problems on my N8.
Then there are the things that I knew not to expect and was prepared to sacrifice such as file system access, USB OTG, HDMI out, FM transmitter, SD card.
I don't want to give up the Lumia, I love it, but as an everyday phone for somebody like me it's just not delivering the goods.
Im in much the same position as you. I have been (am) a very happy N8 user and really looking forward to the belle update. About 3 weeks ago i decided to treat myself to an N9.......an early Xmas present 😃 Now heres where it gets really difficult, my friend just got a Lumia as his upgrade, but prefers his iphone 4.........he offered to sell it to me for a price i couldnt refuse and that i will not lose out on if i decide to sell it, so now im sitting here with all 3 handsets and no idea what to do :con?
Hardware wise the N8 steals the show in my opinion ( dual charging, fm tans etc ) but both Meego and WP7 are exceptional OS's, but i think i would miss the sd card slot) decisions , desicions. i always have two phones on the go , a change is as good as a rest as they say but i really have no idea which one will have to go. Still its a nice position to be in

I would like to retract that comment.
After spending the weekend running N8 and Lumia 800 (again) I'd say that the Lumia battery is pretty much what's expected from an always-connected device and that fiddling with the phone is the biggest battery drain.
After a full day of both devices having push email, IM connected and not too much fiddling with either phone, the battery levels were the same (approx 60%).
Still loving the Lumia and and now leaning towards keeping it in preference to the N8...until the next camera flagship comes along 😊
How do you folks find switching between the two in terms of from full sized sim to microsim? Do the adaptors work? I'm fancying trying the lumia but also will continue to use the N8, moving between the two depending on my mood!
I just use a sim cutter to reduce my sim card size and then put the micro sim back in the part it was cut from.......works fine and no need for a plastic adapter.
This wont be an issue for me from now, i sold my N8 yesterday and am sticking with the Lumia and N9 . Hope i dont regret it !!
When is the Symbian Belle upgrade due for the N8?
WARNING!
Do not use an adapter and microsim in the N8 unless you don't ever want to take it out again.

Sometime in January-March 2012 timeframe, it seems (according to latest info).

Thanks Matt - that was my fear! The N8 will stay as my main phone if simple stuff like this is made, well not very simple at all.
If you cut your full size sim down (using a proper sim cutter) to use in an Iphone, lumia or N9 you can use it in the N8 with no problems if you just use the border of the original sim to make it full size again. I have been doing this for over 12 months, The plastic adapters are a no no though
