Just wondered if anyone knew how phones are unlocked so they can be used on any network. I see lots of sites where you send them your ime number and then they send you the code to unlock it. Surely they must just be using some kind of key generator, i.e type in an ime and it gives you the code, or do the people who do this have some kind of relationship with the network providers and get a percentage of the money.

not sure, I know in UK, a lot of shops on totenham court road will unlock em for ya while ya wait.
Phones are locked in the UK as manufactures charge operators a fix price for the handset.
the unlock code should only be available from the operator from which it was purchased.
The send us your IMEI and we will unlock could be doggy
with no guarantee of the code Nokia give the key to the operator to unlock their sold handsets Nokia must know all the key's since they issue them
