Was the update smooth for you? How long did it take?
update went fine. no problems. now missing most of the useful widgets i had while using the last leaked version of belle lol. no notifications widget, only large music player widget, no battery monitor widget. maybe more are on there way
Just updated my orange N8 😊 congratulations to Nokia for an superb update. Being able to see by product code the update status for your handset is a superb idea. Now to get and use Belle in the real world, im sure it will be worth the very, very long wait
It's taken me at least one dozen goes (kept getting error 12048 on Nokia suite) and a further 4.5 hours after it started downloading to get my phone anywhere near approaching usable.
Maps still not working right and it's incredibly disappointing that the auto-upload of photos to Facebook is now gone too. Hopefully this is something they'll fix.
Seems to me Nokia don't really care two hoots about their existing - symbian at least - customer base.
Ok relatively painless update process and, after a few hours of playing about with the home screens I have things looking roughly the way I want (though no doubt there'll be further tweakage over the next few days)
A couple of observations:
Messaging:
The default position is that the messaging shortcut takes you straight to "conversation display" mode. I know this is a matter of preference but I much prefer the ordinary "Inbox" display - I find those speech bubbles annoying (yes I should get out more!)
In Anna (and previous firmware versions) it was possible to select the inbox display mode as default. However, if this is possible in Belle I'm damned if I can find out how. If anyone knows how to change this (if indeed it is possible) I'd be grateful for any pointers.
Widget Sizes:
The publicity for Belle notes that there are a number of different widget sizes. Are these fixed for each type of widget or is it possible to select your own preferred size for each widget? The music player one for example is nearly the size of the whole phone!
Cheers!
