One little question

I'm on symbian belle, and on the top of the status indicator area, there's a little "1". It doesn't really affect the phone in anyway, but I'm just curious what it means. If I take out my sim card it's not there anymore. But I can't seem to find out what purpose it has. wondering if anyone knows.

Using this random googled image as a reference:

It's to the right of the "Operator" and left of the network, battery and time indicators. Right smack dab in the middle. A "1"

Any ideas?

"Line" indicator. Your network operator probably supports using the same SIM card for two phone "lines" (numbers) to make and receive calls, and when the '1' shows, you've "line" 1 active.
