Appfprge booster and App.

I recently purchased MSMS money, and of course I had to install the booster from Appforge to go with it:

First I have to say the program itself is great, If a little slow. Definatelly way better than Handy expense BUT:

I notice my phone seems to slow down since I installed this appforge stuff, even when I'm in other apps. I'm also mad because there a lot of stuff like promotions or publicity for other programs that I don't want taking space on my phone and memory. I mean, Why do they do this? I buy a program and I get a whole book to go with it? can't the trust I can research what I want for myself.

If they're going to cramp their programs like that they shouldn't charge for them damn it!

Anyway, has anybody noticed anything regarding Appforge and P800 functionality after the install. It could just be that I'm a little short on memory.

Yeah, as it is basically an interface for VBasic (as far as I can work out), it means that by using AppForge, they don't have to recode all their programs for P800. Cheap and quick way to get many (existing) programs to a new (P800) market.

You could at least uninstall 'More Apps' (155kB) which gets installed by default.

I too purchased MSMS Money and think it's a great app.

I can also relate to the problems some people are having with the AppForge Booster. The worst that has happened to me is that after installing certain apps, the applications list disappears until the next reboot, or appears in alphabetical order, with some apps gone from the uninstall list. On these occasions I've had to format the internal disk (which incidently says it's corrupted).

Now I always make a backup before installing an AppForge application, and I always install them to the memory stick. This way if the phone memory becomes corrupt, I can restore a backup and still have the AppForge app on my Memory Stick, with everything fine again.

On the subject of the More Apps application, I just uninstalled it!! AppForge still runs fine without it, and I can choose the software I want to try myself. It does showcase all available apps though, and is updateable, so I can understand why it's there.

Finally my question:

In MSMS Money, does anyone know what files/folders need to be backed-up so I can keep an 'emergency' backup on my PC, to drag and drop back onto my phone if I ever need to???

Regards,

Matt.

Yeah, I uninstalled the more apps thing.

I'm also wondering why isnt there a function to export, send via Bluetooth or print the contents; I mean, it's risky enough to have the booster and all, but if I have to reformat the entire disk I'm F>>>d and loose all my data.

Is it too much too ask for an app like this to be able to send the monthly charts to our desktop computer or make printouts for our taxes?

I'm thinking on setting th app on the mem. stick, but I reserve thaqt for files on the go such as MP3, video's or games, this way I can switch my MEM cards without using PDA functionality and work tools. It would suck to have to switch Mem cards each time I ahve to enter data, and then switch again to do something else.

I'll tell you this much. If the booster forces me to reformatt the disk (I only had to do it once for Opera) I'll send Appforge to hell!

I hate appforge. I installed it once and it gave me some errors when I backed up my phone. I tried it again just to try MSMSmoney but again I go some errors while using MSMSmoney so I uninstalled them both and decided that I dont need them, Ill stick hand expense just for now.

The important file to keep for backup is th MSMSDB71.db.
You can copy it, however, you need to make a copy each time you add an item to the program.

amr

Good to know; I'll make a copy of it right away. I figure, if I back up evey week or so I'll be safe. 😃

I've always been a little dubious about using AppForge's Booster but the programs that use it have just about been worth it.

Howver, the latest demo I tried told me I had to update my copy of Booster. I struggled to find it so contacted AppForge only to find I now have to pay $20 or so for the latest copy of Booster.

I object strongly to paying for a program and then having to pay further to be able to use it, all because the program developer cannot be bothered to do the job properly!
