Software updater not working

In order to check for updates, if any, and install them, I connected my Samsung I8910 HD to my PC through the USB port, connected to the Internet, opened the Samsung PC Studio 7 version, 7.2.24.9, software and clicked Phone Software Update. An error window popped showing the following error message:

"Software updater Symbian. Cannot connect to update server. Either an Internet connection or the update server is not available. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and try to update later".

As there was nothing wrong with my connection to the Internet, I went on clicking, from time to time, the Phone Software Update icon on the Samsung PC Studio 7 interface again and again until, after several dozens of clicks, I honestly cannot remember exactly how many, the download progress bar appeared and the system started downloading. When, a few minutes later, the download progress bar reached 100%, the first screen of the Phone Update Wizard appeared. I clicked Next and then an error window popped up on top of the second screen of the Phone Update Wizard with the indication FUS (I do not know what it means) on its title bar and the following message on its main part: "The connection between the phone and PC has been updated". I clicked OK. This FUS error window then closed and on the second screen of the Phone Update Wizard which had opened underneath, as I have already mentioned above, the following message was written in red letters: "Update incomplete. Please try again after removing and reconnecting the USB cable first".

I have several times removed and reconnected the USB cable and I have also several times restarted the computer but it wasn't of any help at all. So, now whenever I connect my Samsung I8910 HD smartphone to my PC through the USB port and proceed as described above in order to check for updates and install them, I sometimes get the very first of the above error messages reporting a connection failure to the update server and sometimes the first screen of the Phone Update Wizard appears and then when I click Next the behaviour and the error messages I get are exactly the same as I have already described above.

My smartphone is properly connected to my computer through the USB port. The Samsung PC Studio 7 software is also correctly installed on my PC and works absolutely fine in any other respect. So, I can't really understand what is wrong and I get all these error messages and I wonder, after all, if there is something I can do to remedy this problem.
