It still a beta version and events are not working yet, but it looks like to be a pretty cool app.

P.S : Xcuse my english.

Im sure its going to be a great ap, too bad cant use it in the Philippines. Im sure in doesnt have a map of Cebu 😞

I've installed it and it displays my P800's signal strength and the "Cell ID".

I'm guessing that the cell id is my location, how do you translate that into longitude/latitude?

enterprise, i dont think it is intended to work quite like a full GPS system, but instead you build up your database of cells
e.g. at work you will be conneted to one cell, you can define an event for when you log on to that cell, e.g. switch to silent mode
on the main tab clicck miniGPS and add current cell, in events add an event to that cell

after building up your database, you can find where you are on a cold saturday morning after a heavy night out

having said that it hasnt carried out my events yet

I think it would be great if you could load a list of cells and also save it - that way people could build up a database of cells for each specific network. (e.g. Orange UK would be useful!)
Who's the author? and any further instructions available anywhere?

Thanks for the explanation. 😉

Yes it's a beta version from PsiNT and events are not working yet.

Good idea to share cell's info in each country to build a database.

Well, all those features are allready available in MiniGPS for series 60,i'll guess they will soon be implemented in the UIQ version.

they can basically build a database of locations (people with GPS can send them reference data) and show you were you are on a map.

They can get our cooperation on this, and they will have a really great application, don't you guys think?

I cant get it 😞 The file aint there on the download page
http://www.psiloc.com/?id=down&kr=2&dz=3&pr=53

INstalled this app and now all my shortcuts at the top of the screen except Opera and Handy Day are gone. Also, half my applications on the applications list are gone too.

HELP!

It seems that this problem might not be related to MiniGPS as there is another thread where people have seen something like this with other applications. It might be a bug with the phone itself.

   I've installed minigps and all my phone does now is showing my screensaver and nothing works anymore. I can shut it down but that's all. The communicam button and internet button both don't work. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLPPPPP !  😮ops:

This is a great app! Can't wait how they further develop it.
This is stated on www.psiloc.com about further development:

Since there is a big interest on this application we are developing it further! Among the features that are going to come are the following:
A few missing features from the Series60 version like import/export of cells, collecting cells etc.
Other types of events, especially sending SMS with current cell in defined time intervals, also on somebodys demand.
It will be also possible to register the whole trip every cell from start to end with login times of a trip will be taken.
We are also thinking of adding support for locating friends and showing position on simple maps.

Looks promising to me 8) !! Specially interested in the last two points. Don't know how useful it will actually be for me, but it for sure attracts attention and is a must have for a gadget freak 😃

Mini GPS 0.81B is out !!

ah - well thats a good improvement 😉

Wonder if they pulled it off the site, because all I can download is the last version. Any ideas what's going on? Maybe it has something to do with the serious crashes we heard about, and they pulled it off.

Loving it here, works great, can't wait for them to improve the features. Would love to be able to see my location with the flip closed or as part of the screensaver!
