I found out today that my SMS has packed it in. In the connections part of control panel, the SMS and Area tabs are greyed out. As a result I can't change my preferences and worse, can't send or receive SMSs.
Also, I can open SMSs from the Mail application but it shows a blank message. I can see the first few words while in the messages screen which lists all the messages. As I have another phone and another SIM, I have ruled out my service as the cause, so it must be the phone.
Any ideas? Master reset is not on the cards as I can't sync my P800 to back up all my contacts, notes etc. Unless I can somehow do a manual backup by copying all the settings and data files but don't know where they all are and contacts.cdb is always open.
