microsim for N8

hi - is there a way to successfully fit/remove a microsim in an N8? I have read horror stories of using an adaptor & damaging the connectors - which I obviously wish to avoid! I would like to be able to continue to use my trusty N8 on occasions as well as a newer phone which takes a microsim.
