have been playing around w/ mini gps, and astonishing, i named my home cell "home " yesterday, then today marked a few different places like work, but you won't believe that i was just playing w/ my p800 in bed (couldn't sleep), and noticed it wasn't finding that cell as a known cell, so i named it bedroom. then guess what, walking from my bedroom to the salon it actualy switches known cells, it is remarkable!
INCREDIBLE!
How do I get mini GPS?
(New P800 owner 😃 )
so what you say, even in pitch black, you now can find out with your P800 if you are in your bedroom or in the livingroom! Nice feature.....
hehe
downloaded it myself, but must admit I haven't found any use of it. Until I can download a complete list of bases....

I think the idea of it is not neccessarily finding out where you are but more assigning events to locations. For example when you are at work you will be able to automatically silence the phone (vibrate mode). When your at home automatically block calls from the office. That kind of thing.
where do u get mini gps?
http://www.psiloc.com/?id=prod&nrp=53
The download page for P800 does not have any download link.
Maybe it is useful to find back home after drinking the hole night or something else done?! wink
It is not full service like gps normally can do, but saving a point to find back can be useful on safaris etc. Guys who are often out for this can use it, maybe. lol
For me it is not necessary, only a gimmick.
Ciao
Christian
ooops... sorry
Well, it looks like some of you have managed to download this thing, but it's not clear how. There doesn't seem to be anything to download from the product description page itself, and if you go to the "download" link and navigate to MiniGPS, the "files to download" list is empty.
What did those of you who managed to get this thing actually do? I'd really like to try this software, but how is one supposed to download it?
It is probably not out yet for the SE 800.
Can't find the download.
Anyone else that has?
Chris
If you are a member of this forum and you are logged in, you can download from here.

another good use of it if you are kidnaped in a trunk of a car, and pass by a known cell you can tell the cops where you are. :P
MiniGPS is awesome, wait untill psiloc finishes the p800 version.
I have used it on my 7650 and it works like a charm.
does the signal level in mini GPS shows a correct signal or its has been penalized in the software? because I got nearly 25dB different in signal if compare the mini GPS signal and the frequency scanner! Can anyone verify this esp. people from PSILOC! 8)
😃 the mini gps is great as im actually working on the RF section of my co.im actually working with a mobile provider ..and i was just wondering if the ppl in psiloc are able to developed the mini GPS so that it is able to display Frequency channel, so that i dont have to purchase an expensive rf tools, and will be able to monitor our network from my P800...strange though as the signal strength is showing -25dbm to -30dbm lower than any ordinary phone....
Might it not mean that other people will be able to find out where you are - for instance, your wife will be able to know from your signal that you are not working late, but are actually at the pub.
I really dont know how can your wife find out your signal unless she is the same room with you and sneak peaking your p800 behind your shoulder.
I think i actualy read somewhere with the new gps phones a service that would allow you if you enter them in your cell phone to actualy find out where you are, probably by some sort of pinging program, may be it could roughly be implemented in mini gps?

Maybe so.

The problem is that only thing in common that MiniGPS has with real GPS is the name.
Ghostdog we abviously all know that mini gps is only a mirror name for a great app since gps was not built in to the p800, emtac bluetooth receiver will fix that isuue for us. Regardless i do think mini gps can be very usefull to a lot of us . But yes for the records it is not a fully functional gps app. 😉
Well,i abviously knew that you all know 😃 (Well, some people dont,so a was making some things clear) but i was making a point that the "pinging" program probably cant be implemented because MiniGPS has nothing to do with real GPS.
Btw,i know that MiniGPS is a great app,i have used it a LOT on my 7650.
