I haven't noticed a difference myself yet. I still get a popup saying my phone claims not to support .sis files (they install fine, however), and I still get no iSync support.
Unless I'm doing something wrong 😊
I'm downloading it at the moment, I'm hoping that it's a) going to let me browse the device, and b) fix the fact that for no apparent reason I can't send files from the P800 to the Mac anymore, just the other way round.
Like JoseyWales, I'll report back.
(at least Apple have acknowledged the existence of the P800 at last)
i just sent smses from the addressbook! its really cool! finally 😊
The support seems to be limited to integration with Address Book. For some reason, though, all incoming calls come up on screen as Number Unknown.
iSync is separate from the system; support in iSync will probably have to wait for that to be updated.
Now, if only my P800 would accept vCards generated by Entourage...
I still can't browse the P800 from the Mac, in fact the only differences seem to be some cosmetic changes to the Bluetooth Setup Assistant and the Bluetooth PrefsPane. Thankfully though, I can once again send from the P800 to the Mac.
how do you get it to work with Address Book?? Everytime i activate the bluetooth in the Address Book, my phone says "MyApple is trying to connect in order to transfer an entry" (MyApple is my computer name). If I hit Accept, it drops the connection and if I hit "Reject" it makes the connection but drops it when i try to send an sms. I have repaired the device and tried the blue tooth settings as "discoverable" or "on" and it still doesnt work...
Please help!
i made it work with my 7650.. but had to run bluetooth setup assistant even when it when the phone was previously paired. but whats new is that the adressbook box is ticked to allow it to work with it. after i did that i clicked on the bluetooth button in the addressbook and it worked!. im guessing it will work with the p800 the same way too. good luck.
My phone is paired, but I cannot browse tgrough it. If I run the setup assistant it says it cannot find the device, even though itn is paired and I can send and receive files with no problem.
I cannot browse with opera through my dsl either for the same reason. I just downloaded the 10.2.5 and I still have the same problem.
Help?
In order to get the seemingly updated bluetooth support for the P800 in OS X 10.2.5 running, I had to first remove my P800 from the list of the paired/preferred devices, then run the Bluetooth setup assistant again to configure a new device.
You should notice it offers you a) a type to choose from (use mobilephone) and b) should allow you to tick both address book and modem support.
Some weird things persist in my case:
1. Incoming calls are shown with "Number unknown" only
2. I cannot use "Answer" or any other buttons in the dialog box shown on incoming calls.
3. Sending an SMS seemed to work, I mean, I can choose the option and enter a text, but the SMS is not actually sent.
But, the vCards from Addressbook still don't go into the phone right when sent via Bluetooth (e.g. all show up as work)
Found a way to manually edit
(1) Replace "VERSION:3.0" with "VERSION:2.1"
(2) Replace ";type=" with ""
This causes the P800 to properly categorize the phone #s.
