Sorry of everyone knows this, but as someone who followed this forum a few months ago I'm new to it all-just ordered my 3650 so need some info.
What codec or format will realplayer play ? ie- can i encode any vids i may have at home into real format and play them on the phone ? If not real then what else ?
Oh, and whats the nokia data suit that comes with the phone like ? What is there that is doesnt allow you to do that I might have to get thrid party software for ?

Plays RealVideo8. As a note though you can also put them in MPEG-4 (forgot the other ones but not that important); and then PC Suite can automatically convert the resolution/filesize to 3GP format.. But that is substantially larger (and better quality) than RealVideo. For realvideo you need Helix Producer Plus to use RealVideo8 codec (as they are upto 9 now) OR if you can get yourself a copy of Real Producer 8 (which uses RealVideo8 codec) then that'll do as well. The last one is free but hard to find.

It's good. Contact management, phone management, SMS management need a 3rd party program yet to be made. Oxygen is making a contact manager though. PC Suite is purely for backing up, synchronising calendar/contacts, transferring files (and encoding the videos) and installing software. The other options (such as configuring WAP settings/email settings via PC) are pointless.

Time to start encoding and resizing stuff before I get the phone. Nothing worse than having friends who are mobile phone luddites-so to justify my new phone in their eyes I have to dazzle them whith what it can do-soI'll be showing them videos, wav ringtones, IR remote control, winamp remote control . Any other ideas for cool stuff to show off with ?[/quote]
translate this page to english (with altavista) and you'll find a nice "how to" for real encoding. 😃

The email settings in PC-Suite are beautiful if you're using Outlook, you simply choose that account and transfer it to the phone, voila, and you have a mailbox.

Show them Remote S60... I bought that app after trying it... Let's you control your 3650 thru your PC... send SMS, edit contacts... thru your phone's interface using your PC... go search for it on my-symbian or handango...
