The memory stick jacket will be good if you already have some memory sticks. If you do not have them yet, I think the memory stick duo will be better to use. The price of the jacket is almost the same as a duo stick of 128 mb. Another disadvantage is the thickness. (5mm) It isn't that much, but in my opinion the phone is already quite large (not TOO large!!)
Any other opinions?

I wonder, will the belt holster fit if we put the MS expansion back pack?

I might be wrong, but I suspect the 128MB limit will apply to normal memory sticks read through the adaptor as well.

The 256MB is a 128 MB MS that is "Double sided" meanind its switchable by a smalle switch. You dont use 256 at the same time. 😊 You can store your mp3's there if you want. 😊

Does anybody know if the MS will be available in addition to the standard MS Duo (as an additional drive, I guess) or just instead of it?

And where does it connect - or in other words: what modifications have to be made to the P800?

They're not even out in the market yet. The best solution is to do a pre-order on P800er.com, wait for them to get stock and then pay for it. At least P800er.com doesn't take any payments for pre-ordering.

I know what you mean but this will have to take a software upgrade also. The P800 is said to support only up to 128 MB in capacity per stick.

Memory Stick Pro is a completely different type of Memory Stick to the regular one, it's not just software that would need changing but hardware.

A 256mb regular memory stick should work in the P800, as it's just 2 x 128mb cards in one (Switchable) You can't use all 256mb in one go you can switch between them.

Exactly 😊 But will there be a chance that the new Back pack Memstick reader or whatever you call it would be Memstick Pro ready? If it is then all we would need is a software to allows is to use its capabilities 😊

That is Memory Stick Select, now, digi cams support both Pro and Select, and the old normal type. In fact, I remember they were having plans to "upgrade" Memory Stick drives for certain devices or laptop, like my Viao for example, to accept Memory Stick Pro. If they can do this, why not on the P800, or the jacket?

I also got the same email but my problem is there is no credit card option when you check out 😞

I suggest we you get his also even if you have the DUO. That means you will always have 16mb(built in) + 128 Duo ( you can consider this as built it since you will never have to pull it out) + 128X2(switachable, one side pics and vids, the other for Mp3s!!!)

That is why, plus I don't have a normal memory stick now which means I've to get a new Memory Stick Select. :cry: One way is, I get the Bluetooth MP3 player, put my 128MB Memory Stick in it and use a Select on my phone with the jacket but that leaves the inbuilt drive empty which is a complete waste. 😞

No, it wouldn't accept Memory Stick Pro, the phone won't address the memory, it would require more than a firmware/software upgrade, the phone isn't compatible at all.

Thats too bad.. Hmm having second thoughts now... Im weighing my options.. It would be nice to use for working out or long trips and filling it up with 256 mb of mp3's..

You see, you can USE the adapter OR the build in slot for DUO. There is absolutely NO support for 256 MB MS or MS-Duo, since it is an Hardware problem, the mem controller simply wont support more than 128 MB at once, the 128MB switchable MS may work ...

NO hint about credit-card, delivery costs outside of HK, customs and so on ... Will be an expensive alternative to the 128 MB MS Duo i suppose.
