Autostarting Applications

Maybe this is a silly post, as the solution is that simple - but I have been asking for this for a long time and nobody could (or wanted to) give me the answer.

My problem is that I would like to have some applications running by default in my P800 without having to start them first. Tipical examples would be something like miniGPS, SAL or an ICQ client.

At least since I installed HandyDay (which offers an autostart feature)there is a folder c:\system\Startup on my P800 containing a file Day.lnk containing the following line of text:

\System\Apps\Day\Day.app

I made a file called A1-Sal.lnk (with the A1 to have it started first) with the following content:

\System\Apps\Sal\Sal.app

and guess what: It works! When I switch on the P800 it first starts SAL and afterwards HandyDay.

I don't want to set up my P800 from scratch just to find out, if this autostart folder is a feature of the OS or of HandyDay (especially as I regard HandyDay to be a "must have" application), but I would guess it's an OS feature, so this "trick" should work on any P800 with or without HandyDay.

So far the good news ... the bad news are:
- Even if I start SAL before HandyDay, SAL remains active and I have to switch to HandyDay (not a big problem, as HandyDay does this after a configurable time by itself).
- Even so SAL is loaded automatically, I still have to select "Start..." from the menu.
- A similar case for TipicME where I still have to connect manually (I hope these applications will be adapted in the future)

For me it works perfectly for Switcher miniGPS (unfortuantely still beta) and WorldMate.

Was I really the only one not knowing this ...

... or am I the only "strange guy" wanting to autostart applications?

I hoped for some comments (especially if it also works without HandyDay) or maybe additional hints ...

Thanks for the info 😃 I do not have Handy Day but wanted Switcher to be autostarted. Tried your tips by creating the "Startup" folder and then a .lnk text file with the full path of the app (on the P800 with jText). Restarted the phone but it didn't work  Maybe Handy Day changed some system file?
