Is it possible to do this, for example the topic reply notification emails I recieve from this site. If I click on the link in the email to go to the thread it opens the internal browser. Is it possible to set it so that it will open opera.
Get opera to open links rather than internal browser.

The only solution for now is to copy the link and paste it in Opera.

I read somewhere that maybe future versions of the firmware will have Opera as the default browser. Any truth in this ?

I have also seen this in a couple of different places -- whether that improves it's veracity or not I don't know.
Have you looked at the various .ini file settings? I have a vague suspicion that the default handlers might be set in one of those -- after all the noise when Microsoft hard-wired a browser into their OS, it would be rather depressing if SE/Symbian did the same.
