I'm a bit ashamed to admit it, but I've had my 9210 since late 2001, and have only used the phone, contacts, and calendar functions.
My decision to get into the computer side properly, coincided with my discovery of this site, and there are several questions which I could do with having answered!!
I have a laptop and a PC, both running Windows XP, and both with PC Suite installed. However, when conected, my 9210 doesn't show up in My Computer, and although PC Suite can be found in the left pane in Explorer, clicking on the crossed box next to it only makes the box disappear, and clicking on PC Suite, brings up an icon in the right pane with "Unknown device". So all I can do is use Archive Manager, Control Panel, and Task Scheduler.
Assistance would be much appreciated!!
Thanks in anticipation,
David.
PC Suite
Hi
I can't believe no one has answered you yet. It does not give a very good impression on us, although usually the pros give advice very quickly.
Anyway. I hope someone has good ideas on what might be the problem. I'm sure you have tried re-installing the PC-Suite? Do you see the port indicator (the connecting cables) on your system tray? Sometimes my 9210 does not connect to the docking station correctly, but the error message in those instances is 'not connected' (or the equivalent in Finnish) not 'unknown device'. And even if the docking station is empty, the indicator is there.
To be exact the 9210 does not show under My computer in my case either, but it does show on Explorer. And when I open PC Suite with 9210 disconnected, it says 'Workign offline' (or the equivalent in Finnish).
XP had some problems related to Service pack 1, but the issue was in syncing with Outlook.
So to me it seems something has gone wrong in the installation. Maybe you should also check your PC Suite version as there may be newer ones available. If you haven't already, try uninstall + reinstall. If you have already done that a dozen times, I hope there are others who have better ideas 😉

You have to define each task,on each left panels...
You can have another box-function on left panel, if you upgrade to admin suite from www.nokia.com.
What you see, is what we all see, and use.
Don`t get scared, dig into it.
Regarding unknown device, you can name your devise as you want.
