I had to format my phone today
It worked fine. I restored from a backup and everything was fine except
1) my Mid files were not restored
2) My Java aps were not restored
So beware, make seperate backups of these files.

Yes, I noticed that too. In fact, even though the settings of eProfilespro are retained for ringtones and alarm tones, you may have to go into each profile and "reconfirm" them - even midi files which come with the 7650.
I did a hard reset last week, and it took me a long time to work out why messages arrived to my inbox and the phone kept quiet (with message.mid as the alarm tone)...
while I'm on this topic, any guesses as to why I get an error "error when sending message - check your settings " when I send an email from the nokia messaging app? BTW, the email gets sent correctly! This started to happen just after reloading the backup from PC suite. Both the internet GPRS settings and the email settings were correctly reloaded (I had a written copy of their configurations just in case).
Doesn't stop it working, it's just bugging me...

Yes and also Daily alarms need to be redone in World Clock Pro.
I havent had problems with emails or sms, but I use GSM
I found the answer to above problem.
Apparently PC Suite excludes backing up certain files.
Check the PCSuite directory and look for a file called
BackupExclusionList.dat
Open it and remove the line corresponding to Midp and sounds and here you go.
Next time you backup and restore all your Java stuff and Mid files are back again.
All I can say is that I did it once and hardly all that I had in the phone was lost, anyway I solved the problem I had. (I couldn't sent MMS for a weird reason) No I can so, no problem...
All I can say is you have to be POSITIVE about it when you FORMAT your phone 😊
Great tip Doc!
Like the look of the oplogo line as well 😃
Do you know reloading the backup maintains settings in java apps?? (I use emailviewer & webviewer, and it's a hassle configuring the email settings and putting the bookmarks back in, and also re-registering :x )
