Cell information

Has anyone had a problem getting cell information to turn on?

I go into Control Panel->Messenging->Area and check the Cell Information box and press Done but when I go back in it is not checked.

I have firmware R1D.

Thanks,
Mark

Same thing happens to me using a Telstra SIM.Using an Optus SIM it seems to work ok.

Person at my local Telstra store said Telstra was in the process of upgrading software in their base stations that would enable cell information to work with the P800 and that that should be finished by the end of the month(April 2003)-I'm hoping that is correct, though I'm an eternal skeptic....

I've got a Telstra SIM so I guess that that would explain the problem then.

Thanks,
Mark

I have the same problem in R2D for a while it was impossible to activate info cell.

Cell information is normally a small text string used to identify the current cell that you are in. In the UK, this is set to the local area dialling code for Vodafone, but can also be the local postal (zip) code on other networks.

In Russia and Baltic it gives you the name of the town or local area.

In the ABN Amro building in London, it says "ABN Amro", because they have their own cell. That is quite cool.
