Beep after 10 seconds
yea that same thing happens to me
with everycall a beep after 10 seconds
but dosent happen on my friends phone
Well, it depends on the network you are using, I don't know exactly what it is. :-?
Marius, your friend is not using the same network right?
I dont have that problem. P800 doesn`t have any option to disable or enable that sound.
no beep here.
in some networks, 'Chippering' is turned off, that's why the phone beeps and displays a yellow sign in the top of the screen

What is "Chippering", or perhaps why is "Chippering"?

Its not chippering, i think he meant "Cyphering". Its a encryption thing used by SOME network operators, and the phone beeps if the encrypting feature is not supported by the network. So . its not a phone problem, its a network feature ( or the lack of it 😉 ) . As of my knowledge, there is simply no option to remove this beep.
Old thread resurrected by Elcaro, but if you want to read about the GSM encryption, then start with these links:
http://www.gsm-security.net/faq/gsm-encryption-algorithm-a5-cipher.shtml
http://www.gsmworld.com/using/algorithms/index.shtml
In the USA the weaker (deliberately weakened for whatever US government reasons/requirements) A5/2 algorithm is used. In Europe the stronger, original A5/1 is generally used. In 3G WCDMA (UMTS) networks an even stronger A5/3 algorithm is used.
I don't know if the phone is supposed to beep if there is no encryption, but since 1994 I've used GSM phones in many countries in Europe, Asia and North America, and not once do I remember any one of my phones having beeped as described.

The only time it's happened to me was just after the Madrid train bombings last march (I'm in Spain). I guess the Government removed the encryption (asked the operators to do so) to either facilitate communications which were overloaded or to try and listen in to suspicious calls.
All the same, my network was unencrypted for about 4 hours, then encryption returned (and the beep disappeared)
