How do I delete a 'read only file' from my phone memory?!?

6 replies · 10,078 views · Started 23 April 2003

I installed a rom to the wrong directory, and now it won't let me delete it due to it being a 'read only file'.

How do I delete these?!?

I've narrowed it down to the fact that it resides in my c:/nokia/installs directory. It's wont let me delete it or cut it to another folder.

When I cut it, it just makes a copy. How can I get this memory hog off my new phone?!?

isn't that an application then? try going into MANAGER (in the TOOLS folder).. look for its name (i'm guessing u don't want to disclose it) and then press REMOVE.

It's not an application unfortunately - it's a ROM. I've tried renaming and then deleting with a new extension, but that doesnt work either.

I checked in the 'manager' and since it's not an actual app, it doesnt show on the list.

I accidently threw a ROM file into this folder (meant to hit the one below it 'others'😉 and now it's stuck.

Can I somehow put ROM's on my E: ? And if so, how would I get them to work and/or be recognized by GoBoy?

Thanks!

Sounds like you need a file manager that can change attributes like SeleQ.

In order to remove a read-only file you have to use SeleQ to remove the 'read-only' attribute (FExplorer can't do this), and then delete it (with SeleQ or any file manager). Options -> File -> Properties -> Attributes (right twice) -> Read only.

You can put your ROM anywhere on your E: drive. Just 'open' it with your file manager ( Options -> File -> Open ), GoBoy will launch automatically.

Seriously Mossy, you saved my life. My first born will be named " MOSSY the GREAT"....
