Australia got this firmware approx 2 weeks ago. If you are in Melbourne, only Accords has this update. The firmware update takes 30 minutes to do but these lazy buggers took 3 hours due to busy hours. Make sure you present them your proof of purchase (paper with serial #) or else you pay $33 for the update.

It is the name of the firmware. Kinda like saying, version 2.5 update.
Im sorry for sounding dumb, but what is R2D ? What does it do-how does it improve the phone? and what benefit is there in getting one? I dont know what firmware is...

R2F? Have you got a P802? From my knowledge, P800s latest firmware is R2D (known as R2A update) and P802s have R2F.
If im wrong and they released an R2F for the P800, what kind of updates are there compared to R2D?

Yeah mate I definitely have got a P800, from Optus and I definitely have the R2F update, trust me mate looking at it right now. 😃
As far as I know the P802 is only an Asian release to allow use of Chinese characters. Correct me if I am wrong though.
The R2F as far as I can see has the same upgrades as the R2D, honestly I am still looking to see any major differences between the R2D and the R2F. Its really annoying that there is no readily accessible information of what each upgrade includes.

Does anybody know if Canberra has a Service Centre to get the new firmware?
Don't think so but the only place in Canberra that I am aware of that can do repairs for Ericsson is a place out in Fyshwick - CTS Services. They do all phones manufacturers but I doubt they do the firmware upgrade. Best bet is St Leonards in Sydney (mobilefonerepairs).

When you are using a GPRS internet connection you can not accept any calls. In regards to service centres in Brisbane, I just checked Accord Customer Care's website and they dont have an office in Brisbane. You should ask your local Vodafone outlet, they will know for sure.
