I've been to a local SE service center here in Zurich, Switzerland, last Saturday and asked for a R2D upgrade. They had it, but got an email that very morning from SE asking them to stop upgrading P800 phones with R2D immediately.
The guy behind the desk showed me the mail. It read that upgrades should be stopped since incidents had been reported of phones no longer properly working after the upgrade.
The guy still offered me to do the upgrade but at my own risk - I declined thankfully. He mentioned that they had not encountered any problems with any phone they'd upgraded so far.
I don't want to raise any fears here, but I myself will wait 2,3 weeks and check back again then.
