Does the battery of a p800 have memory ?
Im just worried about coming home everyday and putting my phone in the stand all the time, that its going to kill the life of the battery. Is this true or is it something not to worry about anymore.
Thanks for any help in advance
In theory, Lithium Ion batteries, like the one in the P800, don't suffer from memory effect. I've always left my phone on charge all night, every night and the battery on my last phone lasted fine for two years.
In practice, you may notice a small decrease in the battery's performance over time. However, LI batteries can be kind of "re-programmed". If you do find the battery isn't holding as much charge as it used to, you can drain the battery completely, and then charge it for, say, 16 hours. This should refresh it.
One other thing to bear in mind, LI batteries are only supposed to be good for around 1000 charges. Obviously, if you charge it every day, this is about three years worth. On the other hand, I find my P800 is good for 3-4days, so I might get ten yers out of the battery at that rate.
Yeah, Bassey is right. The Lithium batteries do not suffer from memory effect anymore
Oh, BTW Bassey, the P800 has a Lithium-Polymer battery, not a Li-Ion one...
Sorry, yeah, Delta737 is, of course, correct.
The lithium ion/polymer batteries do not suffer from any kind of memory effect neither in theory nor in practice. Of course the battery life decreases continuously, but that is unavoidable, and not a consequence of any memory effect. So you can charge your phone any time you want to.
Thanks everyone, that has put my mind at rest now, on the desk stand it goes😊
