Friends don't let friends buy Nokias....

Nokia's are pretty good actually. I use to be totally pro-nokia until i came across the P800. The NOKIA's are much more user friendly tho.

I agree. I have had a lot of Nokia's: the 5110, 6110, 6210, 6310, 7110 and the 7650. I have own the T39. At this moment I have the Nokia 7650 and the P800. My experience is that the Nokia is still superiour when you look at the navigation. Much faster regarding response and much more user friendly than the Ericsson.

My P800 has not convinced me to ditch the Nokia 7650.

Cheers,
Koen

I totally agree here. I like the P800, a lot. But as a phone it just doesn't have it. The 7650 is so much better to use as a phone, has a better screen to view images, handles email better, a choice of MMS accounts, folders, profiles, working alarm, etc. P800 has better GPRS, loads of memory, looks better. Gonna sell one, just can't decide which.

How on earth can the N7650 handle email better? I like it very much on the P800!!!!!!

P.S. I don't own a N7650, so please explain what is better on the N7650

7650 doesn't delete the messages from the server before I get home and read them. P800 does.

Sorry meant to say, the 7650 does the phone part so much better. Good sound quality, easy answer-reject calls, straight forward and simple to use. Hell, my wife can use a 7650!

Yes,well,Series 60 does perfectly well what it was aimed to do,while the UIQ's design is good, but i wouldnt use the term perfect for it and i can say that p800's hardware strength makes up for most of the things the UIQ is missing, making the p800 a great device.

I guess the S60 UI might be easier for some to use, but I much more prefer the UI in the P800. I used to own a 7650 and I found the UI to be plain stupid, so I guess it's just a matter of preference, like everything else.

I know I could never go back to S60 after UIQ though. I find UIQ much better for manouvering, as it's much faster and allows for better interaction with the menus due to the touch screen.
And also GPRS is much more stable and faster in the P800(class 8, 4+1, 85kbps) compared to the x650(40.2kbps).

Mine doesn't either...

Perhaps you just have to change a setting on the P800 Jay3gsm...

If you could tell me what setting exactly I need to change I would be more than happy to know. If I download headers onto my phone, choose a mail to read, then delete it, the next time I connect to downlaod any more mail the mail I deleted on the phone is also deleted from the server. Bloody annoying. So I don't get to download that mail onto my pc. The 7650 doesn't do this, you get a choice when you delete the mail from the phone only or from phone and server. PITA.

before you delete any e-mails on your p800, just disconnect from your connection and that's it!!!

What if you select 'leave a copy on the server'?

Where is that option? Can't find it. Please.

But when I reconnect, it deletes them from the server. 😞

😮

The solution to this problem is to change the settings in your POP email client to leave copies of your email on the server (in the inbox). Here are the directions to do this:

On a Macintosh using Eudora, go to the Special menu and pick Settings. Then choose the Checking Mail category. There will be a box that says "Leave mail on server." Check that box.

In Windows using Eudora, go to the Tools menu and pick Options. Then choose the Checking Mail category. There will be a box that says "Leave mail on server." Check that box.

On a Macintosh or Windows using Netscape, go to the Edit menu and pick Preferences. Then choose the Mail & Newsgroups category, and the Mail Servers sub-category. Double-click on the Incoming Mail Server (it should say e.g. pop3.mailserver.com). Click on the tab that says POP3, and check the box that says "Leave messages on server." Click OK, then click OK in the Preferences window.

Once you've taken the appropriate steps shown above, Netscape and Eudora should leave copies of all of your email on the server. However, you will still need to remove the messages already stored in the inbox. First, check your email again using Netscape or Eudora to get any fresh messages. Then delete messages in your inbox in elm or Webmail.

DON'T delete the messages on the P800. Once you check for mails on your computer it will receive the message. The next time you check for mail on your P800 the message will be deleted from the P800 (at least from the inbox)

😮

That's affirmative, Delta737.

New 128MB memory stick duo = time to rock!

Thanks for the advice people. I think the best option is to leave the email on the phone until I get to download to my PC, less faffing around that way. Not an ideal email setup, though. 😞

😮

My guess is that SE did it on purpuse, to avoid people filling up the memory and rendering the phone useless.....

Just my two cents!

On purpose?Well leaving the e-mails on the phone might fill up phone's memory and render it useless, not the oposite.I really don't get your point kingrob 😮
Many people here think Nokia phones are fashionable here in Hong Kong, with their 7250, 7210, 6610 or 3650. It's a normal practice to go with the Nokia. They are daxn popular. Of course those with 8310, 8250 or 8210 are playing low.

If you carries a P800, you are really stand out from the crowd!
Hi, do you know how much those P800 are in HongKong nowdays? 😃
Thanks~.

Sorry, Ghostdog, I missed your question!

What I meant :

If you use your p800 to download email from your mail server, you'll see your email on your phone. However, when you download your email to your pc, it takes it off the mail server. So, next time you 'sync' the p800 with the mail server, it also wipes it off your phone.

I would like the phone to keep my old email and if you know how to do that, please let me know...
