I am not sure if any of you have experienced this. I am not able to power up the P800 with the regular switch on the left whenever the P800 is switched off. To turn it on, I'd have to remove the battery for 10 seconds and put it back in again. Then the power switch functions until such time I turn the switch off again. Hmmmm .... I don't recall this happening with my previous P800.
This Is Strange
No, I'm sorry to say, since you have had so much bad luck already, but I think it's broken and you gonna have to return it :-? :robot:
Return it ASAP!
P800 is OK now after I had turned off Device Lock and Turned Device Lock on again. Tried it twice now and it seems OK. Maybe the device lock feature had something to do with it.
Reverted to have my P800 device locked, and yes, you can't turn the phone on unless you first remove the battery and then reinsert it back again. Only then can you switch on the P800. Hmmm, must be a feature to confuse thieves. But I'd appreciate help if any of you can try this out to see if what I have explained is correct.
I just tried this one out for you - at least I think I'm doing what you are..
I set the device lock to come on with the screensaver after 1 minute, then waited until it locked.
I hit the power switch, which asked me to unlock the phone - I unlocked it with the code, then switched the phone off.
I then hit the power switch again after the phone had shut down, and it came on fine, asking me to enter my SIM pin as usual.
Which would seem to imply there's something wrong with your phone..
😮
Send it back. I know what frustration you must be going through - you just want your P800 to work, and work well.
Well, I'm on my second P800 and the experience has been very good so far....

It works OK when the P800 is not programmed to lock the device but once you lock the device, you just can't start up normally. Going by what you wrote, did you try to start up with the device locked or unlocked?
Unlocked, because it is impossible to switch the P800 off with the device locked..
The only way I can switch the P800 off with the standard device lock active is to tap the screen and unlock it first, otherwise the power button is inactive.
Here's how I did it. Go to Phones, look up Preferences, choose Locks, then look at Device Lock, choose When Sim Changed and then click Done.
Next, switch off the P800 and reswitch it on 10 seconds later. See if it works.[/img]
Ahh - I was setting the device lock to come on with the screensaver, rather than when the SIM is changed.
I've just set it up as you have, and switched it off.. so we'll see what happens in a few seconds when I try and switch it back on again..
(waits 10 seconds)
Nope, mine switches on just fine (and doesn't ask for the code, since the SIM hasn't been changed).
Does look like it's just your phone..
Redid the processes again on my P800 and for some strange reason it is now able to switch on without any trouble when the device is locked. I wonder why? Is it me or is there a glitch somewhere? Hmmm... anyway, thanks for the help. The bantering has helped me resolve this issue.
