Is it worth having a software upgrade on 9210i?

10 replies · 2,968 views · Started 04 May 2003

I have the original firmware v5.34 31/5/02, and I have no problems, but wanted to find out it there are any problems with the new firmware as I experienced numerous on my old 9210 when I did the software upgrades.

Any new features, and what is the latest.

Appreciate your help.

Im running the same firmware on my 9210i and the only problem i hve is that some web graphics load distorted/jumbled.

There is really no need to upgrade if your not having any
problems although the new firmwares may be slightly faster

Being on Vodafone, it is pointless connecting to the internet, so if thats the only issue then I am fine.

Many Thanks

Nick

I began with 5.33,had problems and when I took my 9210i to nokia they automaticly up-graded me to 5.34.It was ok...but I wanted to up-grade to 5.54! It works just fine,I haven't noticed great changes!!!!!!!!!!

I upgraded from 5.34 to 5.54 and it works well, but then 5.34 seemed OK too. There is a thread somewhere on this site that details what's new in 5.54. My own view is its worth doing if you are upgrading in the warranty period and Nokia pays for it - you might as well have the most up to date firmware. If you have to pay for it then it's probably a different story - in the UK ithere is a minimum charge of 150 for Communicaid to open the cover.

Why is it pointless?

I connect to the net with vodafone, a bit slow but when you have multiple free minutes who cares about speeeeeeeed! 😃

Hi

I find it to slow when on the move, and whenever I really need it, it doesn't connect or showing off it always lets me down, then later on it works. In my car I have MB bluetooth car kit which I am trying to setup a connection with my laptop or ipaq, which would be far faster. Also I recently purchased a P800, though I will always use my 9210i, better looking and more funtional, but the P800 has trafficmaster, GPRS, Bluetooth, and TRIBAND. BTW the syncing software and backup is better than Nokias. Something for Nokia to note.

I have only 200mins free, I remember you had somehow managed to get loads free (I think) Also are you using the settings with [email protected]?
