There is a slight improvement with pics taken in low light when using nightmode.
I saw a comparison somewhere some time ago, and the pic was smoother without these annoying pixels.
I can't say that there is any apparent difference.
The P800 is never going to rival a proper camera, I use my Minolta Dimage 7 if I want a decent photograph.
Probably the best way for me to improve the quality of my pictures would be to clean the lens, it's a shame there's no lens cover.
I've yet to take a photo with the P800 that isn't fuzzy beyond belief 😞 (Still on R1D firmware).. It's a real shame, actually, as the camera on the Nokia's is a lot better.
(And when I say fuzzy beyond belief, I mean out of focus enough to make the pictures pretty pointless..)
Just to add an example - are everyone elses pics as fuzzy?
The pictures I've taken with the P800 at the weekend are not as bad as this. Although I do agree the Nokia 7650 takes them better.
Maybe some of the wine dropped on your P800's lens and it got a bit dizzy.... 😃
That picture looks fine to me, are you sure you haven't just drunk too much wine 😉 .
I knew I should have found something else to take a picture of, but that was the only thing close to hand with clear writing on it.. 😃
I dont think u guys have this small fix for the P800 camera. Install this app on your P800 and then notice the difference in the pics.
Is this fix implemented in the R2D upgrade? I haven't tried it yet, but I'm curious to know if they'll be any conflicts at all.
yes once you have the R2A upgrade that imagefix.sis. file is built into the ROM. There is no need to install the file again.
That's right, the files are already in the Rom if you have R2x.
Besides, I did install it when I still had R1F, didn't notice much of a difference :-?

Opps forgot to sign in...heheh

As the question initially was for the difference in quality between old&new ( and not if the camera sucked, what started to being discussed here 😉 )...there is a sample in this thread with night mode on and off 😃

Im on R1D and the picture quality seems ok in normal light, took same picture with p800 and fuji camera, fuji got more definition but colours are both good. For a built in VGA CMOS its pretty good i think!
I have a 3650 at the moment (p800 coming in the next few days), and would like to add to the disccusion.
If I take a pic with the normal app on it, it is OK, but not as good as if I take a pic with an add on program called Photograher (version 2.02). What the author of this app has done is added some automatic image adjustment (well I don't know what it does really), to the software, and the pic is LOADS better.
Someone needs to do this for the p800, same operating system, so can't be that difficult.

That isn't entirely true! Though it is both Symbian, the Nokia uses Series 60, while the P800 uses UIQ. Therefore the apps off the nokia are not compatible with the P800!
However, I would like such an app as well 😃
No, what I meant was that the operating systems must be similar, so for the people who make Photographer, it can't be a huge leap to convert it to run on the P800.
