Hello All,
Im new to the forum and am hoping that someone may be able to help me with a query I have. I have a number of clients using 7650 mobiles connected to their Laptops in order to remotework. I want to be able to dial in to their mobiles from the office to connect to their laptops.
Also i want them to be able to dial in to the server and have it redial them so that they can receive their Exchange server e-mails.
So far I am having no joy at all in getting the 7650 to receive a data call and would really appreciate any help you could give. 😊 Its driving me slightly insane to be honest and I suspect it isn't possible but you guys are my last hope.
Thanks
Sean
Got any Ideas on this?
Every time i get it to call back it just answers the phone like its a normal telephone call 😞

Hi Sean,
Umm, are you dialling the correct number? This may sound silly but if you bear with me. My 7650 is on Orange UK and is set up for data. The phone has two distinct telephone numbers because it's set up for data. The first is my normal number for voice-calls the usual stuff etc. The second telephone number is used specifically for making and receiving data calls.
If you call the standard number with a data call, then the phone will treat it just as a normal call.
Apologies if you knew all this.

As steve_perry already said, you need to enable Data Services (HSCSD) for each SIM card. After this, your Operator will give you additional phone numbers to be used for data calls.
I also have the tech support of a company's LAN and they use their 7650s, to get into the network via DialUp RAS. Some of them use the callback option, to avoid the cost, but anyway that's all what you need: Enable HSCSD service 😊
P.S.: Use MS Exchange 2000 or 2003, setup the POP3 and SMTP and then setup each 7650 to read/send e-mail with it's internal e-mail client... 😉
Thankyou guys thats perfect, works absolutely FINE now with thaqt enabled.
I knew there must be a simple answer 😊
Cheers again

Good to hear you got it sorted Sean.
Sigma,
I have my Orange and my NTL-world email set up using POP3 and the 7650 internal email client. It works a treat 😉 despite both Orange tech support and NTL tech support claiming it couldn't be done (Back in September 02) 😮 :-? But by searching these forums I got it cracked. HURAH 8)

Well the phone is accepting data calls now, but when I set it to ringback it messes up at the communicating with modem stage,
has anyone else experienced this?
Using a Dlink bluetooth card and windows xp pro
It was a problem on the orange network.
