SMS problems

I recently formatted my 9210i (v5.54). Everything seems to work OK except SMS. (This may be an own goal - I played around with the stored messages to avoid having to recreate several email accounts.)

The phone receives SMS's OK and they show in the Inbox. I can open them from the external phoneside keypad, but when I try to open them PDA side, I get "Note, unable to find the specified object"

When I select "Write short message" from PDA side., I get "Note, unable to find the specified object"

I can write a message and send it from phoneside, but it gets stuck in the outbox. Then, PDA side, I can see the message in the outbox but it won't open.

If I select "Tools, account settings, short message, edit", I get "Note not found"

If I select "Tools, account settings, short message, create new", I get the "select new account type" box, but it only has "Mail" as an option.

Is there any solution other than reformat again? Is the SMS functionality part of the firmware that will get straightened out during the reformat process, or does it get installed with "all nokia data"?

Thanks.

i suggest reformat, I had the same warning message before when I change the default storage of mail to MMC afterwards I reformat the phone, the phone automatically creates a new mail folder and it's in conflict with the d:systems/mail folder since it's c:systems/mail, so I guess something's up with your mail directory in your phone, or it could be a different matter altogether. Hope this helps. 😃

I went through about 4 or 5 reformat operations before this problem sorted itself 😞

It eventually started working after about the 5th successive reformat.
