Curious: Dismantling the 7650

Just curious, has anyone here dismantled their 7650 before? Can the sliding number pad and the main lcd screen be separated like the 8850 and the other nokia sliding phones? Cause i figured if I can separate the sliding piece and the main body, i can remove the plastic cover of the main lcd screen...hence exposing the actual lcd itself (does it work that way?)...so that I CAN FREAKING CLEAN IT!!!! I am just so puzzled how dust managed to get into the phone so easily and settle onto the internal lcd screen...arrghhh...it really irritates me when u see your nice wallpaper covered with specks of dust that is almost impossible for you to clean. Anybody.... anyone...who has the slightest idea.... please assist!!! Thanks a gozillion in advance!!

my stepfather did it once, but wrecked the 7650 when trying to do it again... you have to be carefull with the ribbon connecting one half of the phone to the other...

It's possible to disassemble it, I've seen a nice instructional video on the subject.

Not recommended for anyone except pros.

Dust on the Nokia 7650 display? You 'just' want to remove the front cover? I have the same problem.

The Nokia 7650 dismantling video can be downloaded from a Greek server, once you succeeded in registering on their website despite of those disturbing Greek characters 😊 www.techteam.gr/servicemanuals.

These are .exe files, don't worry they seem to be the originals from Nokia. As you can see, you have to dismantle the device completely just to clean the inner side of the A-cover which is fixed by six screws to the main board.

My advise, it is not too complicated for someone with some technical understanding, but you should only try this, if you do not depend on your product warranty anymore.

Since I know now that it is allways possible for me to dismantle it on my own, I will live some more time with the dust on the screen. Even more so as it is allready my third Nokia 7650 in a row because of technical problems and I might need another year of warranty time.

I just hope that Nokia designers learnt something from the mass of unsatisfied clients showing these dusty displays to the service personal.

Kind regards, Lars
