can anyone help with the following
just recently I am unable to receive faxes on the 9210. the incoming fax is initially received and the icon appears on the screen. however it then just drops the fax and the sending machine displays the incomplete sending.
I have checked the simm and the network provider says all is ok. on nokia's instructions I have downloaded the updated sis file from the web for the fax and installed it. the problems is exactly the same as before.
I have checked fax barring and this is also ok.
any help would be greatly appreciated as I really do need this feature.

can send a fax ok.
I have spoken to nokia again and without sending the phone back to them and possibly resting the unit and re installing all the prog's they cannot suggest anything else.
What firmware version are you using and is the unit still in warranty? For the 9210, the latest is v4.13, for 9210i its 5.54/6.0. If it is still in warranty you can get the firmware upgraded free. That will also allow you to use a later version of the system files.
The only other option I can see is to try formatting the device and re-install the system s/w in case there is a file somewhere that has got corrupted. I am not necessarily advocating this - I am a novice where formatting is concerned - the experts here are much more experienced with this than I am.
The main issue in the formatting process is backing up all your data files and settings.
i have v4.13. but the unit is now out of warranty. is it possible to format the unit without sending it back or do nokia have to do it?

You can format the communicator and re-install all the apps yourself. There are some other fairly recent threads on these forums that discuss the formatting process.

Go to the appropriate 9210 page on the Nokia website and then click on software - all the Nokia app files are there.
Probably a nice format is the best decision...!
