I'd like to know if 7650 could support i-mode features just by installing an application provided by the operator so that those who already own this phone won't have to purchase new ones.
I ask this questions because:
- Telefonica Movistar is going to launch i-mode in Spain on July 1st
- Nokia 7650 has all the capabilities needed to access the i-mode network.
(or that I think).
I don't know for sure, but since i-mode in Europe is run on GSM/GPRS networks (in those few place where i-mode exists in Europe in the first place), I would assume that all that's really required is a browser that can handle cHTML (DoCoMo's Compact HTML).
I haven't looked, but I would be that at least the Access NetFront browser for Series 60 would do that since Access' browser is what most (if not all) i-mode phones in Japan have.
Anyway, ask your i-mode operator to be sure.
