hi all.

i formated my communictor (9210) and have found two problems...

1st - i can see a folder called Message Storage on the c drive but whenever i click on this to restore it crashes my whole computer system.

2nd- i cant see the SMS messages i had before i backed up the communicator.

can any one help

You have options for message storage on both communicator and MMC. Where did you store them before the format? My 9210i defaults to communicator after a format, but I had stored them before on the MMC. There is an option under tools/message storage to change this. Moving back and forth between the two seems to cause problems.

Messages get stored in system/mail, but I have no idea how you relate the various sub-folders / files to what you see in the messaging view.

When you say "i can see a folder called Message Storage on the c drive", how are you seeing this?

I had them stored on my MMC, and wot i did was from PC suite i made a back up of everything and then selected to delete both drives and restore them.

What i mean by "i can see a folder called Message Storage on the c drive" is when i open PC suite and when i go to Archive manager i can see there is a file there that belonged to the c drive on my communicator.

i hope this clears things up

I think your best bet may be to select message storage on the MMC again. Then create the folder "System" on the MMC if it is not already there. Then manually copy the "Mail" folder and its contents from your backup of the MMC card on the PC back into this folder. You could try the same for the communicator files also.

I recently had a problem with SMS storage and ended up having to format the 9210. I haven't actually figured out how to restore the old SMS's to the phone without screwing the unit up again.
