Ghost messages (deleted old messages suddenly appearing)???!

13 replies · 6,677 views · Started 11 May 2003

It happens on intervals everytime I click on new message. It's suppose to be blank, always blank right? But just today, old sent messages started appearing every other time I click on new message. Where do these messages come from? I tried making all the boxes empty but still they appear every other time I click new message. Help!!!!

Could this be an upgrade bug? Maybe R2F fixes this? It happens both on keypad up and keypad down mode.

This is really freakin me out. does this mean when we delete these messages they are really still there?

Yes, I think they will be still there, but you can't access them any longer. The space they occupied is mark, so new massages can override it.
This means, if you fill up the free space with videos or other stuff, you will override them and now they will be gone forever.

But why are they suddenly coming back when I click new message? Its as if I have configured them as draft messages but there are no settings for this.

don't think it has anything to do with upgrade as i'm having R1D and just experienced the same problem. i just replaced my sim card with a friends sim card and his century old deleted messages started appearing from nowhere.... again and again!!! followed by a colossal drain in battery power and "Not enough memory" notifications 😮

the last apps I installed before this insanity started was Crazy Wrap, Warp Fighter & Tracker.

I dont know which of these apps is the culprit 😞
.......... or if it is something else masterminded by the SE people???

I assume we're talking SMS and not emails here? If it helps, i don't have Tracker or Warp fighter, but I do have crazywarp and I've had no problems described. Just swapped a different SIM (orange) and back again (vodafone) and no sign of deleted messages reappearing or memory full messages.

I'll let u know if anything changes.

I've been running crazywarp for a week now with no problems like that.

I dont have have crazy wrap installed but I do have tracker. I did try crazy wrap before but uninstalled it already. So the messages come from the SIM??

Wait, I remember just the other day that I accidently moved a message to the sim card.. Just about the time this ghostly thing started happening.. Is there a way to view the messages stored on the SIM card? Maybe those are the messages we need to delete!

solved the battery drainage problem by uninstalling Tracker from the phone memory and reinstalling it on the memory stick. battery consumption seems to be ok now, but i lost all my desk icons on Tracker.

still don't understand the crazy behaviour of the sms messages though.

will finally be getting R2D upgrade this week 8)

just now, I have tried to move 1 msg to the SIM. The only difference I saw was that the icon for this msg in the list is different from the other msgs not in the SIM. Normally the icon for msgs is an envelope icon, meanwhile, the icon for the SIM msgs is a phone icon. So, by looking for the phone icons, you would know from the list that the msg is a SIM stored msg.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no way to sort the list by location-stored. So I suggest you browse the SMS list and look out for phone icon msg, then select/check them 1 by 1, then delete them all in 1 shot, that is if you don't have use for them anymore, otherwise you could move them back out of the SIM (1 by 1 sad to say).

Can you try clicking new messages with flip on mode? Thats when these ghost messages usually appear 😞

Before: Only messages I have sent were appearing...

Now: Messages from people also have started to show up 😞

Whats next: Maybe your messages are going to appear on my phone 😃 J/K

this problem was never resolved and is happening to me now so i thought to revive the thread

i,too, has weird SMSes which are not for me,appearing in my phone at 5am in the morning. The SMSes just comes in a one go out of a sudden.
